Luciana Vega dreams of being the first kid on Mars and she’s heading to Space Camp to make it a reality. You can join her too and spend your time looking up at the night sky, writing down your observations in the provided log book, learning how to code a robot, and reading about amazing scientists. In the log book you can also draw pictures of you and Luci having adventures in space and building robots.

How to Care for American Girl dolls:

Gently brush and style her hair with the provided brush.

You can lightly mist her hair to make it easier to work with.

Keep her as dry as possible.

Keep her eyes dry.

If she gets dirty then:

  1. Dampen a soft washcloth with lukewarm water.
  2. Make a paste of baking soda and lukewarm water.
  3. Rub the vinyl(her skin) gently in a circular motion with the paste.
  4. Wipe with a wet washcloth to remove residue, and rinse washcloth frequently with lukewarm water.
  5. Towel her dry and set her in front of a cool fan to dry off.

Please Do Not:
Get water in her eyes.

Use gels, creams, sprays or mousses.

Use straighteners, blow dryers, hot rollers, or curling irons.

Submerge her in water.

Cut, shampoo or color her hair (it can get frizzy and damaged).

Wash or mend the doll or her clothes.

Available to check out for up to a week, cannot be renewed.  Only one doll can be checked out at a time.To check her out all you need is a fine free, valid library card and a caregiver to sign a waiver. A caregiver must be present when the doll is checked out. Only patrons of the Windber Public Library can check her out. No hold requests from other libraries can be placed on her.

When returning an American Girl doll please return her back to the Windber Public Library and return her to the desk, NOT the book drop. Please return her in the same condition as received: with her clothes on, hair neat, and all of her accessories. If you return her late the fine is $1 a day.
